1828 and is one of the global lea-
ders in inspection and import
control. The company has been pre-
sent in Russia since 1858. What is your
local expertise about the specificities
of the Russian market in the nuclear
field?
Through the Rosatom Group, the
Russian nuclear industry aims at
developing its export activities, both
for new generation power stations
and for replacement equipment for
existing power stations. This industry
is particularly sensitive and is one of
the most regulated industries in the
world. Therefore, a major challenge
for Russian industry is to show its
ability to comply with the regulatory
requirements of the countries in
which it seeks to set up business.
In many different regions of the world,
Bureau Veritas has acquired solid
experience in assessing the com-
pliance of complex equipment of
nuclear power stations, such as
equipment under pressure - power
station tanks, steam generators,
valves and circuits under pressure -
and other classified equipment for
safety. Bureau Veritas carries out this
activity in the framework of accredita-
tion, approval and recognition by
national and European authorities.
Bureau Veritas has acquired state-
of-the-art expertise in sectors such
as national nuclear regulations and
nuclear technical standards. This
deep knowledge of regulations and
national and international standards
is a fundamental asset for offering
services to the Russian nuclear
industry in the framework of its
projects for exporting VVER reactors,
especially to Europe and Turkey.
Knowledge of locally-applicable regu-
lations and standards also enables us
to support French and other foreign
companies in making their nuclear
equipment for export compliant
and therefore assist them in setting
up their businesses in the Russian
Federation. The goal of Bureau
Veritas is to build bridges between
Russian industrial regulations and
standards and French and other
foreign regulations and standards.
These bridges are essential for
strengthening trade between countries
in nuclear energy as well as in other
fields.
